History

Ponthir AFC was re-established in 2005 and joined the Gwent County League in 2012. The club has played in Division Three and, after renaming, in Division Two, most recently being promoted from Division Two to Division One after finishing as runner-up in the 2023-24 season.

2005: The club was re-established.
2012-13 Season: Joined the Gwent County League.
2019-20 Season: The league's Division Three was renamed Division Two.
2020-21 Season: The season in Wales was cancelled due to COVID-19 regulations.
2023-24 Season: The team finished as runner-up in Gwent County League Division Two and was promoted to Division One.
2024-25 Season: The team competed in Gwent County League Division One.
League Performance
The club's history shows a mix of finishes in the Gwent County League.
The 2018-19 season resulted in a three-point deduction for the club.
The team experienced a difficult 2019-20 season in Division Two, failing to win a game.
The team has seen significant improvement, culminating in their promotion to Division One in 2024.

Ponthir AFC have been awarded Platinum accreditation by the FAW.  The club had achieved Gold Accreditation from the FAW in previous years,
Platinum accreditation was achieved in 2024. This is the highest level of accreditation possible due to the hard work of the club and its members.
